Joan Fontcuberta has a degree in Information Sciences and one of the Catalan photographers with the most international projection<\/strong>. He also works as a theorist of the photographic image and as a photographic editor, and has promoted contemporary photography through numerous events, conferences and exhibitions.<\/p>\n

His multifaceted artistic production revolves around the plausibility of the image and its ability to represent and supplant the real world<\/strong>. In fact, both his theoretical work and his photography question the truth that is assumed in the image. He is interested in the social function of photography, its public use and the intoxication of information.<\/p>\n

Since the late eighties, Fontcuberta has exhibited regularly in the most prestigious art centers in the world, and among the many awards received, the prestigious Hasselblad International Photography Award in 2013<\/strong>. In 2020, the University of Paris VIII awarded him the title Doctor Honoris Causa.<\/p>\n

His work is found in featured collections<\/strong> such as the MoMA in New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The Art Institute in Chicago, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sof\u00eda in Madrid, the Center Pompidou in Paris and the MACBA in Barcelona, among others.<\/p>\n
