David Bueno argues that the human species should be called \u201cHomo Artisticus\u201d instead of just \u201cHomo sapiens,\u201d since the creation of purposeful art is a biological capacity unique to our species. He argues that this ability, which differentiates human art from simple imitation (such as that of elephants or AI), arose approximately 80,000 years ago thanks to an anatomical change in the neck that allowed complex vocalization and the development of language, establishing the foundations for all forms of art. He emphasizes that all arts (and even science and philosophy, which he considers artistic derivatives) are characterized by being creative, flexible, and symbolic\/abstract. However, he regrets that these capacities, although innate and instinctive in children, are often \u201cmutilated\u201d by an educational system and a society that undervalues them in favor of other disciplines. It emphasizes that work through the arts is crucial for integrating the emotional and rational systems of the brain, fostering empowerment and greater freedom of choice in individuals, and advocates for cultivating these facets for a richer and more conscious life.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
