Art out of place
Granollers, a museum in public space to generate reflection
Out of Place Art This is a project that brings together works of art and unusual environments: walls, streets, squares... For this reason, life-size replicas of major works of Art History have been installed in the city. This year, there are 14 pieces from The Prado Museum, the Picasso Museum and the Granollers Museum.
The fact that these creations are found in public spaces demonstrates the Educator's paper for the cities. The aim is that, from them, reflection and critical thinking among citizens will be encouraged. The chosen works invite us to think, for example, about the role of the community, diversity, play or collective struggle.
For eight weeks, from mid-May to early July, Granollers will have fourteen works of art dotted around the city. It's a unique opportunity to wander through streets and squares in search of these life-size printed replicas. We invite you to stroll through an urban exhibition in which art is «out of place».
The XVIII International Congress of Educating Cities will address the community building, critical thinking and creativity. The works in the «Art Out of Place» project have been chosen for their relationship with the themes of this meeting and with the spaces in which they have been located.
