City and Congress

The XVIII International Congress of Educating Cities is an incentive for the entire city to develop projects linked to the theme of the Congress.

It is a magnificent opportunity to ask ourselves questions and participatoryly build new stories, new proposals, new spaces of knowledge and recognition and naturally more questions.

We do it with the desire...

To involve to all citizens.

And we would really like to reach all neighborhoods, in all educational, cultural, social, professional sectors, ... In all cultural communities, in all generations.

We would like not to miss anyone.

The Congress is above all about this, about citizens capable of participate in building the future of their cities.

We do it with…

Citizens and also with the schools, institutes, and entities of Granollers, La Roca del Vallès, Canovelles and Les Franqueses del Vallès.

Children and Adolescents Congress

An educational, cultural, and civic process carried out during the 2025-2026 academic year that has transformed educational centres into “Educating Cities” spaces.”

The XVIII International Congress of Educating Cities of Granollers has counted on the participation of educational centres in the Children and Adolescents Congress. Pupils, teachers and faculty have acted as congressmen in their schools and in the two Intercentres Meetings held.

More than 1,400 students from primary and secondary schools, from twenty-three schools in Granollers, Canovelles, Les Franqueses and La Roca del Vallès, have worked in classrooms to promote the congress's core themes: community, critical thinking and creativity. They have done this through the Playful Philosophy approach, which aims to strengthen students' critical and creative reflection within dialogue communities.

In total, 50 teachers they have benefited from the pedagogical training, support and presence in the classrooms of the educator and philosopher Angélica Sátiro, who is also part of the Scientific Committee of Congress.

In one first phase, the children and adolescents have worked on their personal connection with the city and the concept of learning cities. In the second phase, students have created school citizen projects, putting the congress's themes into practice in classrooms and their own educational centre. This stage concluded with the holding of the 1st Inter-school Meeting, which offered a space for students to present their projects and learn about those from other schools.

In the third phase, These citizen creations have become interventions that have crossed the boundaries of the school to become present in the neighbourhoods and the city. The city projects presented at the 2nd Inter-Centre Meeting mark the end of this stage, in which children and adolescents act, as well as think and feel the city.
